Condition Grading
At Max Direct, our refurbished devices are professionally tested and graded to help you understand what to expect before you buy.
Our laptops are available in two condition grades: A Grade (Very Good) and B Grade (Good).
Please note that grading considers both the cosmetic condition of the device and its battery health. All devices are fully functional unless otherwise stated in the product listing.
A Grade — Very Good
A Grade devices are in very good overall condition and show minor signs of previous use.
You may notice:
- Light scratches or minor scuffs
- Small or subtle dents
- Minor keyboard marks or screen imprints
- Minor white or bright spots on the screen
- Light wear around edges or corners
- Other minor cosmetic signs consistent with normal previous use
Battery Health: 70%–100%
A Grade is a great choice for customers who prefer a cleaner cosmetic appearance while still enjoying the value of a refurbished device.
B Grade — Good
B Grade devices are in good working condition but may show more noticeable signs of previous use.
You may notice:
- Visible scratches or scuffs
- More noticeable dents
- Visible keyboard marks or screen imprints
- White or bright spots on the screen
- Noticeable wear around edges or corners
- Other cosmetic imperfections consistent with previous use
Battery Health: 50%–100%
B Grade is ideal for customers who prioritise functionality and value over cosmetic appearance.
Battery Health
Battery health is measured against the battery's original designed capacity.
A Grade: 70%–100%
B Grade: 50%–100%
Battery runtime will vary depending on the device, battery age, screen brightness, applications, power settings and usage. Battery health should not be interpreted as a guaranteed number of hours of use.

Every refurbished device is unique, so the location, size and visibility of cosmetic marks will vary from device to device.
A device may have one or more of the cosmetic characteristics described above. The examples in this guide describe the types of wear that may be present and do not represent the exact appearance of every device.
Where a product listing specifically describes a particular condition or feature, the information provided on that product listing takes priority over this general grading guide.
